South Bend, IN, September 1, 2010 – Global Access Point announced that it has named Shane M. Fimbel, Ph.D. as Chief Operating Officer. As the COO, Dr. Fimbel will oversee daily operations and is responsible for maintaining the company’s IAAS (Infrastructure as a Service) model, with particular emphasis on meeting customers’ space, power, and connectivity needs. In the role of COO, Dr. Fimbel will bring proven leadership and deep operating experience to the task of building our team for maximum effectiveness. Prior to joining Global Access Point, Dr. Fimbel has over ten years of venture and start-up company experience with a focus on biotechnology, life science, medical devices, and pharmaceuticals. In his prior role at the Purdue Research Foundation, he was responsible for technology and market assessment, patent strategy, valuation, negotiation and licensing of Purdue University intellectual property assets. Dr. Fimbel worked to develop entrepreneurship by engaging start-up companies in a business advisory role and providing leadership during the formative stages of corporate development. He holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Notre Dame where he was a Reilly Fellow and performed research in the area of regenerative medicine. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Biology from Wabash College where he was an Eli Lilly Fellow. Dr. Fimbel is originally from the Michiana area, and is a graduate of Marian High School.
